In spring, before the leaves appear, the bare branches are studded with a stunning display of pure white flowers. Soon after, the heart-shaped leaves emerge and these are a fresh shade of green throughout spring and summer. Another show of colour comes in autumn when the leaves turn buttery yellow before falling. This tree eventually grows to have a wide canopy, sometimes to 8m, and it will become a real garden feature. It makes an excellent lawn specimen and it does best when in a sunny spot in the garden.
