Blueberry Plants
Blueberries are deliciously refreshing fruits that are slightly sweet, whilst at the same time being somewhat sour, as well as being juicy. Many nutritionists consider blueberries as a superfood so you can grow your very own superfoods in a relatively small space in your garden. Blueberries can be enjoyed fresh, cooked up into a pie or whizzed up in a blender to make a smoothie with other fruits.
Blueberry bushes need moist, free draining and distinctly acidic soils. Their best chance of growing successfully is when planted in soil with a ph of below 5.5 (or planted in a large pot or tub with ericaceous compost), and in an area that is reasonably sunny and sheltered from strong winds. Blueberry plants can eventually grow to a height and spread of around 5ft, producing delicious fruit in midsummer and intense red foliage in autumn. Spring will bring dense pink flowers to the blueberry plant.
