Redcurrants are a great choice for northern regions as they prefer a cooler climate. They will also tolerate partial shade, although they do produce a better crop in full sun. The glossy red fruits can be enjoyed as part of a summer pudding, they also make a vibrantly coloured redcurrant jelly. Ensure you protect these treasured fruits from the birds as they will be far too tempting for them to resist.
