If you have a shaded area of the garden and require attractive groundcover then there is no better choice than a vinca. These delightful shrubs have a creeping habit and will spread outwards on the ground. Most vincas are evergreen which means that they will provide you with interest all year round and they also offer long-lasting floral interest with the flowers that show from April to September.
You can plant a vinca in any moist soil and it will thrive; for the best flowers then plant it in full sun, but if you require groundcover for a shaded area then vinca will still do well.
