Carex Everest
Japanese Sedge
Common Name: Japanese Sedge Latin Name: Carex oshimensis 'Everest' Soil: Fertile moist, well-drained soil Position: Full sun or partial shade Hardiness: Hardy Eventual height/spread: 0.5m/0.5m Special features: Variegated dark green and white foliage. Everest is an outstanding evergreen perennial that will bring a variegated year-round dose of colour to your garden. The gracefully arching leaves are dark green in colour with a contrasting white margin, making this sedge a great focal point. This small and hardy Carex will form a neat mound and it works really well in a bed or border alongside other evergreen varieties: we would recommend planting this alongside something brighter, like the Carex 'Everillo', as the two plants make the perfect foil with their contrasting foliage. This sedge will also live happily in a pot and its arching leaves will reach over the edge of the pot, which is a great way to add structure to your garden; you could place the pots on either side of some garden steps or by an entrance to fully utilise the year-round colour.

Carex Everlime
Japanese Sedge
Common Name: Japanese Sedge Latin Name: Carex oshimensis 'Everlime' Soil: Fertile moist, well-drained soil Position: Full sun or partial shade Hardiness: Hardy Eventual height/spread: 0.45m/0.45m Special features: Dark-green leaves with lime-green margins. The 'Everlime' is a striking perennial that features arching dark-green leaves that have bold lime-green margins. This clump-forming sedge has long and slender foliage that provides variegated colour all year round. This is a great choice for brightening up a bed or border and it works well when planted alongside a contrasting, variegated sedge like the Carex 'Eversheen'; the grassy nature of this ornamental sedge means that it flutters and moves with the breeze. You can also plant this hardy sedge in a large pot where its arching foliage will reach over the edges. We would recommend the 'Everlime' if you're wanting a healthy dose of colour, structure and movement in your garden.
