Prunus 'Ingrid' has all the benefits of an ornamental garden tree at the same time as producing bumper crops of delicious almonds. The attractive pink flowers are borne in early spring carried singly or in pairs. The leaves are long and pointed with finely toothed margins very similar to that of the peach. The velvety skinned, green fruits (which look a bit like small green peaches) enclose the edible almond nut. We advise for these trees NOT to be planted in the vicinity of peach trees as it may result in as hybridisation resulting in bitter nuts.
