Common Name: Marjorie's Seedling Plum TreeLatin Name: Prunus domestica 'Marjorie's Seedling'Soil: Will tolerate most soils, except very chalky or badly drained.Position: Full sunFlowering period/colour: April to May/WhiteFruit picking time: Late SeptemberFruit size/colour: Large/PurplePollination group: Self fertile *5*Rootstock: Various (see drop down menu)Prunus 'Marjorie's Seedling' is an excellent choice if you want a late plum which can be used for cooking and eating straight off the tree. The fruit has purple skin and yellow flesh which is moderately sweet when fully ripe. The fruit becomes much darker when it is rip, almost a blue-black colour, so ensure you pick it at this time to get a sweeter plum. 'Marjorie's Seedling' crops later than Victoria and so is a better choice for areas that are suffer from spring frosts.
