The 'Albert Beeckman' will grow to be a real feature of any garden: its leathery leaves are a strong, deep green colour and boast a striking feature with their doubly-serrated edges. Spring catkins are green and are nestled between the verdant foliage. The ovate leaves later turn to crisp golden shades before falling in autumn, which adds further interest.
Although this sturdy tree is more columnar when young, once mature it will grow to have a pyramidal habit. Plant this next to a tree with contrasting leaf colour, like the Parrotia persica Bella, as the two have similar habits and both have coriaceous leaves, but differing leaf colour.
