Juniperus conferta is a distinctive juniper with prickly, apple green foliage held on light, chestnut coloured stems that makes a rather refined ground cover. It has the merest touch of waywardness in its appearance. It is suitable for growing on banks and down walls and even in seaside locations as its native habitat is the coast of northern Japan.
