Malus 'Red Windsor' is a very easy garden variety to grow with a good resistance to both frost and disease. This tree produces heavy crops of sweet, deep red, Cox-like apples. The apples have a good balance of sweetness and sharpness and have lightly aromatic qualities about them. The tree itself has a fairly compact and rounded habit; it produces lightly scented pink and white flowers in spring. The leaves are green in spring and summer and are red and orange in autumn. Suitable for cold areas.
Although this tree is self fertile, it can also be used to cross pollinate other apple trees in the same flowering group (e.g. Crispin).
