The Larix decidua is the only deciduous conifer native to Europe. This larch grows to be a highly attractive tree which offers varying interest throughout the seasons. In spring, bright pink cones appear and these mature to a rich brown colour as spring progresses. The needles emerge bright green and then fade to dark green, before a final burst of orange before falling in autumn. In winter, after leaf fall, all that remains on the tree are the pretty cones and these can be plucked from the tree at Christmas and added to a decorative wreath. Recommended for large gardens only or for forestry/ parkland planting.
