The 'Sychrov' is a wonderful tree which grows to have a rounded crown which is comprised of delicate branches that hold mid-green leaves. The leaves are ovate in shape and have slightly serrated tips. Although this tree is appreciated for its ornamental value, its best feature has to be its nuts. The fruits have the usual walnut exterior with a slight point on the top and a fissured shell, but the core of the nut is very unusual. The walnut-brown shell of the fruit hides a very unique and special nut which is bright crimson in colour and has a great taste. The fruits are ready for harvesting in mid-September and can be enjoyed in cereal, as part of a cake or simply on their own.
