Common Name: Marginal Wood Fern
Latin Name: Dryopteris marginalis
Soil: Moist but well drained
Position: Partial shade or full shade
Hardiness: Hardy
Eventual height/spread: 0.6m/0.6m
Special feature: A delightful evergreen fern with arching fronds
If you want to add year-round colour to a shady area of your garden then this is a great choice. The Marginal Wood Fern features grey-green fronds that largely grow upright and then arch once mature. The deeply-lobed pinnae give this fern a ‘light’ texture and it’s perfect for planting as part of a woodland or wild garden scheme. We love this alongside the glowing foliage of the Dryopteris goldieana as the two plants have a similar texture, but different colouring.
