Home-grown rhubarbs are a real treat when cooked as part of a pie, crumble, or even made into jam. They are extremely easy to grow and are a 'low input' group so they are the ideal choice for a budding gardener. Gradually pick the fruits as they ripen between the months of March and July, only pick the fruits that are well-coloured as these have the boldest flavour. The bright fruit stems need to be separated from the green leaves which are poisonous.
