Juniperus are great plants for striking foliage and they feature branches that are densely packed with either needle-like leaves or scale-like leaves. With junipers being evergreen, they are a great choice for adding interest to your garden all year round. Depending on the variety, they are well-suited to a range of situations and most are suitable for costal sites as well as urban sites.
The smaller juniper varieties work well in rock gardens or gravel gardens and will give a colourful boost to your garden during winter.

Juniperus communis Compressa
Juniper
Common Name: JuniperLatin Name: Juniperus communis 'Compressa'Soil: Moist but well-drained (will tolerate most soil types)Position: Full sun or shadeHardiness: Fully hardyHeight in 10 years: 0.7mSpecial features: Dwarf, narrow conical habit. Leaves are dense grey/green. Very distinctive. (Evergreen)Juniperus communis 'Compressa' is a dwarf conifer that makes a low, slender column, plumping out a little with age, which improves its proportions. It's all very small scale and generally doesn't reach even 1m in height. It has very fine, light green needles that are evenly textured. This is an excellent subject to provide a vertical element in a trough. Juniper foliage has a resinous scent, especially if pressed in the hand. Plant in sheltered rockery or tub.
