Cupressocyparis, also known as Leylandii, are an extremely popular choice for planting as hedges. They are fast-growing and are therefore great for planting as screening in a situation that requires quick coverage; they make great sound barriers and they can easily block out unsightly buildings in a matter of years.
The densely packed foliage grows in flattened sprays, and with this being an evergreen variety it will add interest all year round. If left alone, Leylandii will generally grow to have a conical or columnar habit, but can easily be pruned to maintain a desired shape or size.
