Choisya ternata is a medium-sized shrub with very smooth, bright green, shiny leaves. It has white, sweetly scented flowers in late spring and early summer and sometimes, a less enthusiastic second crop of flowers in the autumn. The leaves are aromatic when crushed and if you hold one up to the light you can see that they are dotted with translucent oil glands. One of the attractions of this plant is its naturally rounded shape which makes a strong feature in the garden, especially as the foliage is a bright uniform green, attractive in all seasons.
