Prunus 'Czar' is the most popular of all the cooking plums. The oval fruits have yellowish-green flesh, which has a good acid flavour, and a deep purple-blue colouring to the skin. Czar can also be used for dessert purposes when fully ripe, the fruits become darker and sweeter as they mature. It is a reliable cropper with a high resistance to frost. (This is a self fertile Plum, which will also help to pollinate others in the same flowering group (e.g. 'Opal')
