If you want a vibrant shrub with long-lasting flowers then the 'Gold Spot' is a fantastic choice. The foliage is golden green and in summer, through to autumn, the leaves are complimented by the pretty, tubular flowers. The flowers open from deep pink buds and are white, with a pale pink blush. In milder areas the leaves will hold all year round, but for most this is a semi-evergreen shrub.
This Abelia is a great choice for low-level structural planting as the branches gently arch; we love it in a mixed bed with an accenting plant, like the darker green leaves of the popular Abelia grandiflora.
