Cryptomeria japonica Sekkan
Sekkan Sugi Japanese cedar

The leaves are in line with that of the species: awl-shaped and glossy. New foliage starts out as a creamy yellow colour and it matures to a dark green, but then takes on yellow tints in winter. The branches are slightly pendulous, which adds structural interest, and this will eventually form a conical tree. This is a great choice for year-round interest as it will add a healthy dose of colour all year round. If you want a planting partner then the Acacia dealbata as both trees are evergreen, but they have different foliage, which offer contrasting textures.
