The intricate branches become heavily clad with masses of waxy white flowers in spring; these are later followed by a plentiful supply of fruits. The crab apples are fairly small and hold a glowing bronzed-red colour which really brings life to a winter garden. This tree has a high resistance to disease and is also the ideal candidate for patio planting.

The leaves are mid-green in summer, but they really shine when they put on a dazzling autumn display of coppery red and bronzed yellow. In spring, bronze-green leaves appear and these are soon accompanied by fuchsia pink flowers. The flowers are sweetly scented and are popular with wildlife. Over summer, the bronzed leaves hold their colour, before falling in autumn. From October onwards, red-orange fruits appear and these last for several months: a great natural bird feeder over winter.
