This ivy plant is excellent for growing over trellis or against a wall to bring wildlife and winter interest to any garden.

The leaves are held on chocolate brown stems on a shrub that is softly conical in outline, with gently spreading branches. There are tiny chocolate coloured flowers in April. These carry a sweet, floral fragrance somewhat reminiscent of a lily. It makes a lovely specimen.

It is very artificial in its appearance and good in an urban setting where its distinctive qualities suit abstract sculpture and gardens given over to hard landscaping.
