Lawson Cypress
Common Name: Lawson CypressLatin Name: Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Ellwood's Gold'Soil: Moist but well-drained (will tolerate most soil types)Position: Full sun or shade (Avoid very exposed positions)Hardiness: Fully hardyHeight in 10 years: 1.8m x 2.2mSpecial features: An excellent slow growing dwarf conifer with a conical shape and bright golden tinge to leaves all Summer.A variegated conifer with foliage sprays, pendulous at their tips, in shades of yellow and green. This is a most attractive, graceful feature. At a distance, the tree is seen as a light yellowed green shade. Because of the subtlety of its foliage, it deserves a place where it can be viewed, hence a position near a sitting area is recommended rather than treating it as an isolated specimen. The fruity odour of the crushed foliage is an added attraction.
