In spring, when the flowers arrive, the ‘Snow Showers’ is a sight to behold: the pendulous branches are awash with the most beautiful display of pure white flowers. The weeping branches cascade downwards and are covered in the single, pure-white flowers. The flowers are popular with the first of the spring bees and the flowers have a light and fresh scent. The spring leaves appear with the last of the flowers and the mid-green leaves are ovate and serrated. The leaves really come to life in autumn when they produce a final burst of colour: they turn to scorching shades of deep reds and oranges before falling. The weeping frame adds interest in winter and it looks particularly beautiful when topped with snow. This is a great choice for wreathing with lights during the Christmas period as the pendulous branches look wonderfully elegant when lit up. Maintaining a wonderfully compact habit, the 'Snow Showers' is the ideal choice for planting in a small space. Even when mature, this delightful tree has a compact form, making it suitable for planting in a large pot on a sunny patio. Equally, planting two 'Snow Showers' trees either side of a pathway makes a beautiful entrance to the garden. This versatile tree is well-suited to a range of situations and is certainly worthy of planting in any garden. If you want to plant this in a pair or a group, it works really well with Prunus 'Kiki Shidare Zakura' or Prunus 'Pendula Rubra' as the contrasting flowers from both of these trees looks stunning next to the white flowers of the ‘Snow Showers’.

Prunus 'Kiku-Shidare Zakura' is a compact and highly attractive tree. The ‘Cheals Weeping’ is perfect for a small garden and it boasts a profuse display of double pink flowers. This is ideal for restricted spaces as it is one of the smallest flowering cherry trees available: you can even keep it in a large pot, if you don’t have the room to plant it. In spring, this outstanding tree bursts to life: new foliage shoots through and the leaves are a shimmering bronze colour. At the same time, the ‘Cheals Weeping’ puts on a stunning floral display. The spring flowers are rose-pink with a double petal formation and they cover the tree. In fact, the pendulous branches become difficult to see as they are often masked in a blanket of vivid flowers during this season. As the leaves mature, they turn deep green and hold their colour over summer. Come autumn, the tree produces an exuberantly colourful display of autumnal orange and bronze before the leaves fall. The structure of this tree gives winter interest as the pendulous branches gracefully arch downwards and they look beautiful when topped with snow. An ideal choice for year-round interest.  This flowering cherry tree is so wonderfully compact that it is suitable for planting in a range of situations: when planted in pairs, the Kiku Shidare Zakura’ looks great on either side of a path and it also makes a worthy lawn specimen. Magnolia grandiflora

Evergreen Magnolia Tree

The Magnolia grandiflora boasts the most beautiful, very large white flowers and glossy green foliage which holds all year round. A bold and bright tree that is perfect for adding interest in all seasons. You would be hard-pressed to find a flower as large and beautiful as this one in your average garden. The Magnolia grandiflora, also known as the 'Evergeen Magnolia', features colossal flowers, with some up to 25cm wide, which appear in late August- early September. The cup-shaped flowers have thick, creamy-white petals and really stand out. The flowers have an intense citrusy scent, with hints of lemon, which makes this the perfect choice for sensory planting. Another great feature of this tree is its very large leaves: the evergreen leaves are oblong-elliptic shaped and dark, glossy green in colour. The thick and waxy leaves often have reddish-brown hairs underneath and they offer a healthy dose of colour all year round. This tree grows to have a broad, conical shape and it’s fairly bushy, making a great screen. It looks simply stunning when paired with the Magnolia Exmouth, but if you want contrasting interest then we would recommend planting the 'Grandiflora' alongside the Photinia ‘Red Robin’ as the blushed foliage of this evergreen makes the perfect foil to the ‘Grandiflora’.
