Mahonia x media 'Lionel Fortescue' is an excellent plant with imposing whorls of great leaves composed of many leaflets and many upright sprays of yellow flowers that last for several months in late winter. The flowers have a rather pleasing fragrance and are followed by clusters of plum coloured berries. This can be grown as a specimen, or planted behind lower growing shrubs.
