This Katsura is the perfect choice for changing interest as its beautiful heart-shaped leaves change colour from spring through to autumn. New foliage emerges deep purple in spring and matures to a rich green-blue colour by summer. The larger summer leaves curl slightly inwards and have a marbled bronze overlay which glistens when the sun hits the top of the leaves. By autumn, the leaves glow yellow and gold before falling. Aside from the attractive foliage, the tree itself has a lovely narrow and upright habit and you can plant this tree as a lawn specimen or plant it for architectural purposes to add structure to your garden. The tree is said to look like the tail of a fox when mature, which gives it its common name 'Red Fox' (which is Rotfuchs in German).
