Hypericum, also known as St John’s Wort, are fantastic shrubs that work really well in a floral shrub border. These brightly coloured plants are known for their pretty flowers that are nestled in between the luscious leaves. The flowers usually have 5 petals, often a buttery yellow colour, and have prominent stamens. Hypericums have fruits that grow as capsules that are berry-like in form and these add further interest in autumn.
Hypericums are hardy little shrubs that thrive in a range of soil types and situations. They enjoy a sunny position, but can tolerate some light shade.
