Conference Pear Tree
Common Name: Conference Pear Tree (Dessert)Latin Name: Pyrus communis 'Conference'Soil: Fertile, well-drained soilPosition: Full sunFlowering period/colour: April/WhiteFruit picking time: Late SeptemberFruit size/colour: Medium/Olive green with large patches of russet.Pollination group: Partially self fertile *3*Pyrus 'Conference' is one of the most reliable varieties of pear tree, it is often planted for its good self fertility- even in less than perfect conditions. This dessert pear tree becomes covered with pure white flowers in mid-spring, followed by delicious, long, olive green fruits in late September. Broadly columnar in shape, this tree is ideal for an open, sunny site. Although 'Conference' is partially self-fertile, to guarantee a bumper crop of pears plant with another tree from the same flowering group (e.g. 'Williams Bon Chretien')
