Prunus Avalon
Avalon Plum Tree
Common Name: Avalon Plum Tree (Dessert) Latin Name: Prunus domestica 'Avalon' Soil: Will tolerate most soils, except very chalky or badly drained. Position: Full sun Flowering period/colour: April to May/ White Fruit picking time: Mid August Fruit Size/colour: Large/ red coloured Pollination group: Partially Self Fertile *2* Rootstock: St Julien A. (Semi vigorous rootstock which will reach a height approximately of 4 metres.) Prunus 'Avalon' is a strong- growing tree that bears one of the finest quality dessert plums available. The delicious plums are often found in supermarkets and greengrocers and are a great choice for making plum jam. The fruit is large, round-oval shaped with a good strong sweet plum flavour similar to the popular Victoria variety. This tree has a fairly light crop in its earlier years but more than makes up for that with the quality of the fruits that are produced.

Prunus Excalibur
Excalibur Plum Tree
Common Name: Excalibur Plum TreeLatin Name: Prunus domestica 'Excalibur'Soil: Will tolerate most soils, except very chalky or badly drained.Position: Full sunFlowering period/colour: April to May/WhiteFruit picking time: Early AugustFruit size/colour: Large/Reddish-purplePollination group: *2* Pollinated by VictoriaRootstock: St Julien A. (Semi vigorous rootstock which will reach a height approximately of 4 metres.)Prunus 'Excalibur' is a vigorous tree which produces large, sweet, reddish-purple plums that are ready to eat in mid-August. If you are happy to sacrifice quantity for quality then this is the one to go for as the fruits are larger than Victoria and in our opinion tastier. The spherical fruits are sweet and juicy and make the perfect summer snack. To guarantee cross pollination plant with another tree from the same or adjacent flowering group (e.g. 'Victoria').

It is a small, spreading tree which produces heavy crops of small, bluish-purple plums very early on in the season. A good dessert variety when fully ripe with golden juicy flesh. Aside from the delicious fruits, the tree itself has a spreading habit and its branches hold ovate-elliptic green leaves and pretty white flowers in spring.
