Commonly known as the ‘Judas Tree’, this genus of small trees have attractive pea flowers in spring and broad, rounded, heart-shaped leaves. There are several theories as to how the common name of 'Judas Tree' came about, including derrivation from the word 'Judean' referring to the hills where the trees were once found, and the theory that this was the tree that Judas hanged himself from. A deciduous tree suitable for small gardens which requires full sun and good drainage.
