Interestingly, Solanum belong to the potato family, giving them the common name of ‘Chilean Potato Trees’. These climbers can be evergreen or deciduous, depending on the variety, but all have the ability to climb a fence or wall. One of the best features of Solanum plants comes in summer when the flowers appear – these are usually 5-lobed with prominent stamens and they last well in to autumn.
