Prunus 'Opal' is one of the most reliable of all the garden plums. This tree will produce a medium sized, reddish-purple fruit with superb flavour. A feature worth noting for this plum is the ease with which the yellow flesh parts from the stone. (This is a self fertile Plum, which will also help to pollinate others in the same flowering group (e.g. 'Jubilee')
This Plum Tree is supplied bare rooted suitable for planting from November until March or in a 10 litre container suitable for planting all year round.. The total height of this tree is approximately 1.5-2.1m (5-7ft) depending on which size you have chosen.
Our bare rooted trees are hand lifted from our nursery on the day or day before despatch. There will be no soil around the roots but they are covered with a bag to prevent them drying out. If you are unable to plant the trees immediately there is no need to panic. The trees are completely dormant this time of year, which means as long as the roots are kept out of the frost and well wrapped up no harm will come to them, although the sooner you can get them planted in the ground the better.
